We carefully reviewed the dashcam footage published by the Justice for Godbunder Road (JFGR) team of the unfortunate collision between a motorcycle and a cab on the Bhayanderpada Flyover, Godbunder Road, Thane, last weekend.

However, what is equally disturbing is not only the sequence leading up to the collision, but also what happened immediately afterwards. Instead of assisting the injured riders, the cab driver and the passengers reportedly left the scene, leaving the victims lying on the road and exposed to fast-moving traffic. Regardless of who was at fault, the first priority after any road accident should always be to ensure the safety of the injured and arrange immediate medical assistance.
Lack of Directional Signage
The Bhayanderpada Flyover on Godbunder Road was inaugurated in May 2025. More than a year later, the junction still lacks adequate directional signage to guide motorists unfamiliar with the flyover configuration.
In this case, the cab made a sudden left movement to exit onto the flyover. Clear advance signboards and lane guidance could have alerted following traffic to such manoeuvres and potentially reduced the risk of conflict. The visuals also indicate that the motorcycle was travelling at a relatively high speed. He must have surely seen the left indicator lights of the cab. The rider appears to have attempted an overtake from the left instead of waiting for a safer opportunity. As highlighted in Visual 12, there was sufficient space and time to overtake from the correct side. That single decision may have been the difference between a safe journey and a tragic collision.
Irrespective of who is at fault, your first responsibility is to ensure the injured are moved to safety (where possible) and receive prompt medical assistance.
